Zetec/2.3 Galaxy/Pinto/Crossflow/BDA to MX5 NC N7 5 Speed Gearbox Adaptor Plate

This adaptor plate will allow you to fit a Mazda NC N7 5 speed gearbox behind your Zetec, Pinto, 2,3 Galaxy, Crossflow or BDA Engine. 

The plate is laser cut to ensure accuracy and repeatability so all adaptor plates are manufactured and fit the same.

The top two countersunk holes are used to align the centre line of the adaptor plate to the centre line of the crankshaft. The plate is supplied with the two countersunk M10 screws for this and 3/8 for the Crossflow and BDA. There are 2 dowels welded into the adaptor plate that then line the gearbox to the crank centreline.

Your gearbox will need notching slightly to clear the nose of the starter you are using unless it is a lightweight/hi torque type unit with no nose. The starter position is on the passenger side of the car with this adaptor plate.

The gearbox can not be used with the standard external slave cylinder with this adaptor plate as it clashes with the starter location. You will need one of our cable clutch conversion kits and RX8 release bearings, the standard bearing cannot be used or one of our hydraulic concentric release kits. 

With this adaptor plate on a Zetec the preferred setup for flywheel, starter and clutch is one of the following:

Pinto engines use standard flywheels and starters and run a type 9 pressure plate with MX5 22 spline 1.8/2.0 friction plate.  

The 2.3 Galaxy engine uses 1800 CVH Sierra flywheel, pinto pressure plate, MX5 22 spline 1.8/2.0 friction plate and one of our 1.4Kw bottom solenoid starters. Bottom solenoid is used mostly in Unlimited bangers to clear the downpipe.

Crossflow engines use a standard crossflow, flywheel and 3 bolt starter motor and one of our Heavy duty crossflow Mazda NC sprung centre clutches. These are found by clicking here. You can use any steel aftermarket xflow flywheel and its matching starter whether it is 110 or 135 tooth.

The adaptor plate is supplied with all fastenings to bolt the engine to the adaptor plate, the gearbox to the adaptor and the starter to the adaptor plate. See attached drawing for fastener size and locations.
