RX8 Five speed cable clutch fork and bracket fitting instructions

Five speed cable clutch fork and bracket fitting instructions

1.Mark out the position for cutting the hole to allow the clutch fork to come through the side of the box using the dimensions shown below. I use a 30mm hole saw for the corners and then cut between with a disc cutter.

2. Remove the release bearing and clutch fork from the box. They should just pull out.

3. Undo the original pivot point for the clutch fork. Cut the mounting point down and grind down as much as possible. Highlighted yellow. Then remove two of the bolts holding the bellhousing to the box and fix the new pivot bracket in place.

4. Grind out this webbing in the box to give plenty of clearance for the fork to sit back as far as possible. Keep trying the fork with release bearing on to get it right back to give clearance. This is essential on zetec/pinto and 2.3 conversions as the clutch height is quite deep.

  1. Countersink the 2 opposite bolts to allow the fork to sit right back.

6. Fit the clutch fork and then the RX8 release bearing as shown below.
